Custom Marble Lamp Bases: Preparing the Hardware Drawing

A custom marble lamp base drawing should explain how the stone connects to the rest of the lamp. Outside dimensions alone leave the mounting, cable route and assembly method unresolved. Define these interfaces before the base is fabricated.

Identify the components that touch the stone

List the mounting hardware, stem, underside plate, feet and any other parts that fit against or through the base. Supply component drawings where available and identify the revision being used. Mark critical mating dimensions for review rather than assuming that a standard-looking fitting has a universal size.

Show the route through the base

Use a section view or annotated sketch to explain the proposed bore, cable exit and assembly access. Identify who will install the hardware and how it can be reached during assembly. The manufacturer can then review the stone geometry against the proposed construction.

Do not select hole sizes or wall thickness from appearance alone. These need to be agreed for the specific material and hardware arrangement; this buying brief is not an engineering drawing.

Review stability as an assembled product

Provide the dimensions and weight of the planned upper assembly, including the shade. A stone sample standing on its own cannot establish the stability of the finished lamp. Evaluate the prototype with the intended components and clarify the applicable destination-market assessment responsibilities.

Define the scope of supply

• Stone base only, or base with specified hardware?
• Who sources and approves the fittings?
• Who performs final assembly and testing?
• How are parts identified and protected for shipment?
