Custom Marble Vanity Trays: A Buyer’s Size Guide

Specify a custom marble vanity tray by its usable inner space, not just its outside dimensions. The items displayed, the rim profile and the room needed to pick up a bottle determine whether a tray will work on a bathroom counter or retail shelf.

Build a footprint layout before choosing the shape

Arrange the intended bottles, jars or jewellery boxes on paper. Mark their bases and leave the handling space you want between them. Measure the resulting layout, then compare it with the available counter space. Include the clearance needed to clean around the tray and operate any nearby tap or cabinet.

For example, two bottles may fit inside a tray while their pumps extend beyond its rim. A base-only measurement would miss that interference. Include the full operating envelope when a dispenser forms part of the display.

Round, oval or rectangular?

A rectangle gives a straightforward layout for aligned bottles. A round or oval outline changes the usable area near the edges. Send the footprint drawing along with the preferred outside shape so the manufacturer can review the proposed wall thickness and rim geometry.

A decorative scallop, handle or raised edge also changes packaging requirements. Mark whether it is an essential design feature or a detail that can be adjusted after feasibility review.

Review the base and finished weight

Specify how the underside will contact the countertop. Ask to review the proposed protective pads and stability on a sample. If staff will move a filled tray regularly, include handling and finished weight in the approval discussion. Do not assume that a larger version can simply use the same thickness as a smaller design.

• Outside dimensions and the required usable inner area.
• A layout of the actual items the tray will hold.
